i read in an interview that suzanne vega would take all kinds of mundane texts and turn them into lyrics: doctor's prescriptions or writing on cereal boxes. i thought that this was an interesting approach. so i took the starr-report and was amazed by the tenderness and the literacy of the language: it was so sad and beautiful the way monica had fallen for bill!
